Family Fun This Fall In Kansas CityWritten By: Joey Kramer September 10th, 2018As with each year, we are seeing once again, the passing of yet another memorable summer, and with it, the excitement and optimism of back to school time. With this transition, we again shift our focus to the upcoming fall, and the many new memories waiting to be made with our family, friends, and new acquaintances that have come into our lives this year.While the temperatures begin to drop, and the leaves, seemingly on Que, begin to turn to their familiar red, orange, and yellow hues, we all begin to realize that our calendars are inevitably filling up fast with activities that are seemingly geared towards quality time with our loved ones; as we begin the always rushed preparations for another winter season of giving and love; who’s spirit is only a few short months away.In actually realizing the limited time that our busy lives allow us, we compiled a helpful list of the must see and do events this coming fall, in order to take full advantage of the opportunities to create lasting memories with the cherished ones in our lives. After all, we must live in the moment, for the future is never a guarantee. Mark your calendars, and plan to attend one or more of these events this coming season in order to spend time with the ones that matter the most! Don’t miss out on the 40th Annual Louisburg Ciderfest, which kicks off on Saturday, September 29th. Hours are from 8am – 6pm, and continues on Sunday, September 30th and also the following weekend, Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th.The activities kickoff with the Louisburg Lions Pancake Breakfast from 8:30am – 11am on Saturday the 29th. Other activities include: Live music beginning at 11am, cider and donut-making, pony rides, and inflatable slide ongoing throughout the day until 6 pm. The Ciderfest also features craft booths, gift & collectible vendors, and multiple BBQ and food vendors. There is no admission or parking fees to attend Ciderfest. Also visit their huge pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkins, experience the awesome 10-acre corn maze, or visit with the many farm animals, play on the hill slide, or enjoy the picnic areas for an afternoon lunch or dinner. The BBQ world unites once again, as they bring the flavors and aromas of the world’s greatest BBQ talents right here to KC, as they kick off another year’s competition to crown the 2018 BBQ Champions of the world. They will be cooking it up at the Kansas Speedway September 13th-16th, and as always, the event is packed full of incredible live music, delicious BBQ, and local food, as well as a full line up of kids activities and authentic KC vendor fares. As darkness falls, the fear rises as KC’s famous amusement park transforms into a hauntingly frightful Halloween experience. Enjoy the thrills of your favorite rides and the chills of the Extreme Haunts, as patrons navigate the fog-filled midways where over 400 monsters lurk to feed off of your screams. KC’s tradition of frightful Halloween nights is never complete without a trip down to the historic West Bottoms, where you will find an array of frightful and entertaining delights, guaranteed to terrify even the boldest of us all. Known as one of the haunted house capitals of the world, KC’s haunted attractions have earned top awards for the best haunted houses in America. This is a must do attraction if the kids are of the appropriate age, (14 and up recommended). For the first timers, or even the pros, it’s always a new adventure in fear with each season, as the houses are always changed and updated yearly, in order to provide a new and even more terrifying thrill to all that dare to enter their doors. Being a Kansas Citian and fellow Midwesterner, the Fall signals one always enduring tradition, involving tailgates and cheers, hopes and dreams, and of course, plenty of tears and regrets of the dreams failed to be achieved for our hometown teams. This coming season is no different from those of the past, as our local pro and collegiate teams once again take the field, to prove that their gridiron glories will go down in the history books as being the greatest teams of all time.While this unfortunately always seems to be an ever elusive goal for each of our local teams, the thrill for us fans still remains with each new season, and with it, comes the enjoyment of these events that we’ve made into lasting traditions for so many of us, from all walks of life. From tailgating in the parking lots, to cheering on our faithful, from stadiums full of our fllow brethren, let’s all take notice of these time honored moments, and appreciate them for the memories that they allow us to share. Whether your a fan of the Chiefs, Wildcats, Jayhawks, or Tigers, we can all experience this time as a great competition, as watching our heros giving it all on the field, as we soak up the time with those we love the most. For the art lover, coming again this year, starting on Friday, September 21, through Sunday, September 23, is the 87th annual Plaza Art Fair, that encompasses nine city blocks and welcomes a crowd of over 250,000 patrons. This year, expect to see over 240 local and national artists, showcasing their talents, at one of the nations top-ranked art events. Included will be 3 live music stages and 22 featured restaurant booths.
