We’ve all seen the reports, quality time with friends and family is a rare thing nowadays. Luckily, with the beauty of Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms we are able to keep in touch and connect with them regularly. We still need that time to laugh together, and share hugs!

Who has time to organize an evening to do this? With work finishing at 5:00 PM, and then the 30 min drive home through traffic, by the time you walk in there is not enough time to prepare snacks before everyone shows up at 6:15! Let alone attempting to tackle one of those 1,300 Pinterest Recipes you have saved!  Or, is there?

However, you still want to provide your guests with something to snack on while you have fun. So, we put together a list of 5 snacks that require NO-PREP, at all, that will keep your guests happy and full.

Popcorn

If you want the time of the microwave, then pop a bag in! It only takes 3.5 minutes, and your delicious popcorn is ready to eat!

Want to get “fancier” with your popcorn? Support local and go to Funky Monkey Corn Company to pickup their Fruit Loop flavored popcorn, called “Monkey Mix“, or any of the other fun flavors they offer! Just open the bag, and your guests will be thrilled!

Chips & Salsa

Open the bag of tortilla chips. Unscrew salsa lid on the jar. Insert Spoon. Done. This is one of the easiest snacks that everyone loves!

There are a great local salsa selections at Original Juan Specialty Foods on Southwest Boulevard, with some very unique flavors like, Jamaican Pineapple Salsa and Fiesta Artichoke Garlic Salsa

Hummus with Veggies

Ok, ok! If you want to slice the veggies yourself, then you have about 5 minutes of prep work. If you go by your local grocery store, you can get them already pre-sliced in the deli section.

Speaking of keeping it local, check out a fantastic, local hummus from The Hummus Co. Again, this hummus stands out for it’s outstanding flavor combinations like, Spicy JalapeƱo & Lime, and my personal favorite, Zesty Lemon & Garlic! You can buy this at your local HyVee.

Pumpernickel and Dill Dip

Now here is snack to fill up your guests. I personally eat this as a personal snack all the time! So, while you are at your local area HyVee, swing into their Bakery Department and pick up a loaf of Pumpernickel Bread. Then, stop by the Deli Section to pickup a deli-made dill dip.

When you get home, pull out the loaf, and rip about 2″ pieces from the center top until there’s a “bowl” in the middle of the loaf. Pour the dill dip in, and voila!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Very minimal work to achieve these. Melt chocolate in microwave for 1 min, stir, repeat until fully melted. Dip strawberries. Lay on wax paper. Done.

Seriously though, I just had to tell you about Simple Pleasures! O-M-G! Decadence delivered! The strawberries are HUGE, and way fancier than anything I have time to make. They have ones covered in mini chocolate chips, nuts and other wonderful flavors!
